History

The Dance Shop of Archdale has been a staple in the Archdale-Trinity community for over 25 years and was originally founded by Mrs. Debbie Roberts. Her passion for teaching and love for dance prompted her to open The Dance Shop in 1977. It started out in a small, one room studio. The Dance Shop was well received in Archdale and grew to over 500 students at its peak.
Watching her students dance with commitment and passion let to the development of her goal, to create an arena for young dancers to showcase their talents. Thus, she developed Showstopper National Talent Competition.
The Dance Shop of Archdale proudly relocated to a new location not far from the original one room studio. Our current home offers over 6000 sq feet of studio space, including 3 studio rooms, boys and girls locker rooms, student lounge, costume room, spacious lobby, and Starstruck Dancewear retail store. Our studio rooms provide observation windows to allow parents to monitor their child's progress throughout the year.
Our Archdale location is conveniently located to I-85 and is easily accessible to students and their families from Archdale, Trinity, High Point, Thomasville, Lexington, Denton, Greensboro, Kernersville, Randleman, and surrounding areas.

Teaching Philosophy

Mrs. Melanie and Mrs. Shelia are proud to continue the philosophy of teaching dance thru love started by Mrs. Debbie years ago. We believe that dance provides a wonderful outlet for young people to express themselves in a positive manner. We want our studios to be save places for the students to explore the arts thru movement and self-expression.
Our goal is to create a loving atmosphere in which each child will learn self-worth, self-expression, and self-confidence as well as an appreciation and understanding for the art of dance. Our teaching staff is dedicated to meeting the individual needs of every dancer.
We have watched with pride and joy as some students strive to overcome their fears of being on stage - transform themselves into performers vying for the spotlight!
The pride, sense of accomplishment, and increased self-esteem witnessed in the faces of our students every recital is the driving force behind our teaching staff.
There is nothing as pure or more beautiful than a smile on the face of a child that expresses - without words - their inner knowledge that they are proud of themselves and their performance. It is those very smiling faces that motivate us to help each dancer find the music within their soul and learn to dance from their heart.
Mrs. Melanie and Mrs. Shelia would be honored to work with your child to help him or her find a way to express themselves thru dance and invite you to become a part of The Dance Shop Family.
